Women's BHRT & Menopause Care in Elizabethton, TN
More than hormones. Personalized care for the whole woman.
You deserve to feel heard when changes in your health affect your daily life.
At Doe River Aesthetics & Weight Loss, we care for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Our approach goes beyond checking hormone levels. We consider your symptoms, medical history, thyroid health, metabolic health, and other potential contributors to how you're feeling.
Our goal is to build a personalized plan that supports your health, comfort, and quality of life.
When Should You Consider an Evaluation?
An evaluation may be helpful if you're experiencing:
• Hot flashes or night sweats
• Changes in sleep
• Vaginal dryness or discomfort
• Changes in sexual desire
• Fatigue or low energy
• Mood changes or difficulty concentrating
• Changes in menstrual patterns
• Concerns about weight or body composition
These symptoms can have several causes. We take time to evaluate the bigger picture rather than assuming everything is related to hormones.
We Look Beyond “Normal”
A lab report is one part of your health story.
We interpret results alongside your symptoms, menstrual history, medications, and overall health. Our focus is meaningful improvement in how you feel and function—not simply whether a number falls inside a laboratory reference range.
When treatment is appropriate, we work toward symptom relief and better health while keeping medications and lab values within safe, evidence-based parameters.

Our Initial Evaluation
Our initial laboratory panel includes:
• Complete blood count — CBC
• Comprehensive metabolic panel — CMP
• Lipid panel
• Hemoglobin A1C
• Vitamin D
• Thyroid-stimulating hormone — TSH
• Free T4
• Free T3
• Thyroid peroxidase antibodies — TPO
• Estradiol
• Progesterone
• Total and free testosterone with sex hormone-binding globulin — SHBG
• Follicle-stimulating hormone — FSH
• Luteinizing hormone — LH
• DHEA-Sulfate — DHEA-S
This broader evaluation helps us assess potential contributors to your symptoms and identify findings that may need treatment, additional testing, or coordination with another provider.
Hormone levels can fluctuate significantly during perimenopause. Labs are interpreted in context and do not determine a diagnosis or treatment plan by themselves.
How to Get Started
Step 1: Book “Women's BHRT Nurse Call”
Your first step is to book a “Women's BHRT Nurse Call.”
An RN will call you to discuss your symptoms, menstrual history, medications, and relevant medical history. This includes screening for concerns such as a history of breast cancer, blood clots, stroke, or unexplained vaginal bleeding.
The call helps determine the appropriate next step. It does not replace the provider's full evaluation or guarantee that hormone therapy will be recommended.
Step 2: Complete Your Initial Labs
If appropriate after the nurse call, you can:
• Have your initial labs drawn in our office for $229.
• Have orders sent to Quest or LabCorp, where insurance may be billed according to the laboratory's policies.
Insurance coverage varies by plan, test, and medical necessity. We cannot guarantee coverage, including coverage of hormone testing. Patients using an outside laboratory should confirm benefits and potential out-of-pocket costs with their insurer and the laboratory.
Step 3: Meet with Your Nurse Practitioner
We generally schedule your provider appointment approximately one week after your lab draw, once results are available.
You'll meet with Lindsay Cox, NP, who brings more than ten years of nurse practitioner experience and a family practice background that includes women's health.
During this visit, we review your symptoms and results, discuss your goals, and consider treatment options, benefits, and risks.
The initial provider visit is $125.
What Is BHRT?
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy uses hormones with the same molecular structure as hormones produced by the body.
Some FDA-approved estrogen and progesterone medications are bioidentical. The term “bioidentical” does not automatically mean compounded, risk-free, or safer than other hormone therapies.
Hormone therapy may be appropriate for certain menopausal symptoms. Nonhormonal options and other treatments may also be recommended, depending on your needs.
A Plan Personalized to You
Your treatment plan may include hormone therapy when appropriate, attention to thyroid or metabolic findings, lifestyle recommendations, or further evaluation of other causes of your symptoms.
Hormone therapy is not a weight-loss treatment and is not appropriate for everyone. We discuss your individual risks and benefits before prescribing.
Medication prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy. Medication costs are separate from laboratory and visit fees.
Follow-Up & Ongoing Support
We generally recommend follow-up every three to six months, with earlier visits or testing when needed—particularly after starting or changing treatment.
Follow-up focuses on your symptoms, response, side effects, and any testing needed for your plan.
You do not need to wait for a scheduled appointment if concerns arise.
Program Pricing
• Initial in-office laboratory panel: $229
• Initial provider visit: $125
• Follow-up laboratory panel: $99
• Follow-up provider visit: $75
Initial in-office labs plus the initial provider visit total $354. Medication costs are additional. Quest or LabCorp charges are determined separately by the laboratory and your insurance coverage.
